About Barangay Banker
Barangay Banker is situated in the northeast area of the municipality of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province. It has 1,300 hectares with 587 hectares dedicated to the agricultural process. The barangay is composed of five (5) puroks: Centro, Mati, Matijal, Mainline, and Datagan, respectively. In the past, the only means of crossing the barangay’s river was through a makeshift bamboo raft known as "bankerohan" and the person navigating this raft is called the “bankero". Hence, the barangay became known as “Banker” in recognition of their mode of transportation in the past. It was also once a sitio of Barangay Sanghanan before it became a separate barangay under the Provincial Board No. 169 on February 13, 1970.
