The Kabadi have returned to Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay for another community exposure! We were joined by our community preceptor, Dr. Eric Cabayacruz, during our consultation for the continuation of our Implementation Phase.

FIRST FLAG CEREMONY FOR THE YEAR
On January 5, 2026, the Kabadis attended the first flag ceremony in Barangay Banker for the year 2026. We were joined by our fellow Kabadis from the Barangay Council of Banker, CVOs, Social Work Interns, and many more community members. After the flag ceremony, it was followed by an energetic and fun Zumba session that everyone participated in.
We were very happy to witness the patriotism and the good health practices of our Kabadis in Barangay Banker. A great way to start the year!

Implementation Review Meeting with Dr. Eric Cabayacruz
On January 5, 2026, the Kabadis went to the RHU of Kabasalan to consult about their health programs in Barangay Banker, Kabasalan. The programs focus on Hypertension, Childhood Immunization, and Facility-Based Deliveries.
This consultation helped further improve our plans and ensure that the health programs are effective for the community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Eric Cabayacruz, our community preceptor, who continues to support us in making our health programs successful!

Prenatal and Immunization Day at Purok 2, 4, and 5, Barangay Banker
On January 6, the Kabadis, together with Barangay Midwife Ma’am Heroncia Escarpe, went to Purok 5 to assist in the Prenatal and Immunization Day for Purok 2, 4, and 5.
The activity also included the distribution of Vitamin A supplements and Deworming for children as part of the National Deworming Month by the Department of Health. These services help ensure proper growth and prevent illnesses in children.
In previous years in Barangay Banker, there were concerns about the low number of facility-based deliveries and the low percentage of fully immunized children.
Because of this, the Kabadis did not hesitate to take part in promoting health among pregnant women, children, and mothers, even if it meant traveling far and enduring fatigue while serving in Purok 5.

Prenatal and Immunization Day at Purok 1 and 3, Barangay Banker
On January 7, 2026, the Kabadis joined Ma’am Heroncia Escarpe, the midwife of Barangay Banker, and the BHWs of Barangay Banker for their Prenatal and Immunization Day.
We were very happy that many pregnant women and children participated in the activities for health, helping improve the overall health of these special groups in Barangay Banker.
Moreover, it was inspiring to witness the dedication of our barangay midwife and BHWs. Even though they were tired from assisting many check-ups and vaccinations, they kept going!

Lecture on Hypertension by Dr. Eric Cabayacruz
On January 9, 2026, the Kabadis in Barangay Banker, together with Team GRACE from Barangay Goodyear, attended a lecture on hypertension conducted by Dr. Eric Cabayacruz, the Municipal Health Officer (MHO) of Kabasalan.
Hypertension is a common health issue in every community, not only in Barangay Banker but across the country. It is very important for us to learn about its causes and management, especially as medical students, so we can help educate people on preventing and managing hypertension.
As Kabadis serving the people of Barangay Banker, we pledge to continue spreading knowledge and awareness about hypertension to our community!

I.D. Registration for Hypertensive Kabadis in Barangay Banker
On January 14, 2026, the Kabadis attended the Senior Citizen Assembly in Barangay Banker and conducted blood pressure checking and monitoring for both diagnosed hypertensive and non-hypertensive residents. This is part of the barangay programs to address the High Incidence of Uncontrolled Hypertension in the community.
Afterwards, diagnosed hypertensive individuals were registered to receive an Identification Card for easier access to medications at the RHU of Kabasalan and a BP Monitoring Booklet to record their blood pressure at least twice a month.
These programs greatly help our Kabadis monitor their blood pressure, maintain it within normal limits, and take their medications properly.
For our Hypertensive Kabadis‼️:
Take care of your health. Regularly check your blood pressure, take your medications as prescribed, and maintain healthy lifestyle habits to prevent complications and sustain strength and wellness.

Health Teaching Seminar on National Immunization Program (NIP) for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs)
On January 14, 2026, the Kabadis conducted a Health Teaching Seminar on the National Immunization Program (NIP) for the BHWs of Barangay Banker. This activity is part of our interventions to address the problem of Low Percentage of Fully Immunized Children (FIC) in the barangay.
The Kabadis recognized that community members, especially mothers, rely heavily on the BHWs to provide basic health services. Therefore, we believe it is very important to give our beloved BHWs updated and accurate knowledge so they can better educate and inform the community.
Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted before and after the lecture to measure knowledge. Fun and interactive activities were also included in between sessions. We were very happy to see that the Kabadi BHWs were attentive and actively participating!
We hope that this knowledge will stay with our BHWs and be used to improve the health of children in Barangay Banker through health promotion and disease prevention.

Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) Day 1 in Barangay Banker
On January 19, 2026, the Kabadis assisted Barangay Midwife Ma’am Heroncia T. Escarpe, together with the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), during the first day of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) in Purok 1 and Purok 3, Barangay Banker.
The MR-SIA is an important intervention aimed at protecting children aged 6–59 months against measles and rubella. This activity also includes the distribution of Vitamin A to the target population to strengthen children’s health and immunity.
Because of this, the Kabadis and the RHU of Kabasalan, under the leadership of Dr. Eric T. Cabayacruz, supported and helped ensure the success of these activities, especially since childhood immunization is a known health challenge in the barangay.
We were happy to see active participation in the MR-SIA activities, which shows the community’s commitment and concern for protecting the health and well-being of their children!

Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) Day 2 in Purok 5, Barangay Banker
On January 22, 2026, the Kabadis participated in MR-SIA Day 2 for Purok 2, 4, and 5 in Barangay Banker, held at the Covered Court in Purok 5.
We were joined by our dedicated Barangay Midwife and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), who, despite long travel distances, continued their efforts to vaccinate children aged 6–59 months. They even conducted house-to-house visits for children who could not make it to the vaccination site.
We are extremely grateful to the RHU and health workers of Kabasalan for their patience and consistent support in these immunization activities, ensuring the health of our beloved little Kabadis in Barangay Banker.

Outing with the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Midwife
On January 23, 2026, we had a delightful outing with our beloved Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Midwife, Ma’am Heroncia Escarpe. The day was filled with laughter, fun, and unforgettable memories. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and singing our hearts out during endless karaoke sessions.
We are deeply grateful to our BHWs and midwife for their unwavering support during our program implementation and throughout our stay in Banker. Truly, helping others is even more fulfilling when we are encouraged and cheered on by such dedicated individuals.
